Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best well-known for her role in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of school after her parents separated to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first role as the title character in the online video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The actress reprised her character for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes playing Shannon. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. She portrays Faith who's both a star-gazer and the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She is part of the Gyllenhaal family and is the older sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as an early teenager, with small roles in several films by her father. Also, she worked alongside her brother in 2001's cult movie Donnie Darko. Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for both her performances as the main character in Secretary (2002) which is which is an erotic romantic drama and Sherrybaby (2006). She received a nomination from her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. She starred in a number of commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However it was her performance in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as a single mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang and Hysteria. Other roles she has played include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal debuted as a writer and director in 2021 with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For the film, she won with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
